Trump will unveil a new collection of Indian cartoon characters this week, The Associated Press reported, with the president saying he wanted to “give an opportunity to a new generation of Indian artists to be able to create and share their work with the world.”
Trump told The Associated Statesman, “It was one of the greatest days of my life.
And it’s an honor to work with them.”
A statement from the White House said the President was “honored to have been able to support a collection of characters that represent India in the entertainment world.”
The announcement comes after a series of recent controversies in India, where President Trump has made controversial comments on a number of issues, including an executive order that allows American Muslims to wear headscarves and a call to ban a popular Indian song that features an anti-India rant.
Trump also faced criticism for not taking a tougher stance against India’s human rights record during his visit to India earlier this month, when he called for India to adopt a new, “fair and balanced” stance on the country’s controversial rape laws.
